In mkii can I define a section before \part, ie something like \definesection[section-0] \definehead[book][section=section-0] (part is \definehead[part][section=section-1] ) ?TIA -- luigi

Half in jest, half serious: \definehead[book][section=section-1] \definehead[part][section=section-2] \definehead[chapter][section=section-3] .... and so on :) Aditya
