The definitive guide to ConTeXt MkIV documentation
Dear list, I have written a guide to ConTeXt documentation which summarizes the most important resources for the ConTeXt beginner, advanced user, and expert user. You can see it on GitHub: https://github.com/hmenke/context-examples/blob/master/GUIDE.md I have also posted it on TeX.SX for better visibility to a larger audience. https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/448812 Of course the guide is extremely opinionated and describes how I learned to use ConTeXt. If you think that things are missing or wrong, please submit a pull request on GitHub to my repository or flick me an email. I hope that this guide is as helpful as I think it is. Cheers, Henri

Thanks for creating this. This can also be merged with the wiki documentation (which is where most people start looking for documentation). Aditya

I was thinking about posting it on the Wiki as well but decided not to because it is way too opinionated and reflects purely my experiences. Also I would like to maintain this guide and it is difficult to manage contributions made as edits on Wiki (I don't get notified). However, I don't claim any copyright to this guide so feel free to steal any parts you want.

That’s legitimate, but I think it’s still useful to have that information on the wiki, so I added a link at the bottom of the section “Tips and Tricks” on the home page. Improvements and suggestion welcome. By the way, I don’t find your write-up particularly opinionated; on the contrary, I think the description is pretty objective. You’re right to pinpoint that the main issue with documentation is the relative lack of beginners’ guides, not the quality and quantity of documentation overall. Best, Arthur
Hi Henri, Your guide is extremely useful. But as Aditya says, in order to be able to find it when one needs it, maybe the best place is to put it on the wiki. Thank you very much for your work! Best regards: OK
