Dear All,
Expecially those who use a Mac G4 OSX 10.2.3 and who have installed
teTeX using Gerben's installer.
Following a recent upgrade using Gerben's installer the command
\startfiguretext no longer worked correctly. The console readout was as
follows:

I would be most grateful if someone could send me the instructions or overwrite the above to allow me to install the latest ConTeXt beta.
Another possibility is to use the install script at: http://www.hobby.nl/~scaprea/context/index.html Place it in a directory, along with the cont-tmf.zip package, and then run a command something like this: sudo perl ~/Context/install_context.pl --textree ~/Library/texmf ~/Context/cont-tmf.zip Read the instructions at the site though, which mentions something about:
It is recommended to use a texexec script that passes the formats directory to the fmtutil script of the TeX installation.
From what I understand, you should also download the version of texexec that is available on that page, and place it in the same directory as the other files. Can someone (Simon?) confirm this is all right? Bruce

Hi, I do use also Gerben Wierda's installer of teTeX under Mac OS X 10.2.3. I upgraded a few days ago and noticed that \startfiguretext doesn't work anymore... and the error message is the same as the one Charles D. mentions in his message. Regarding the installation of a ConTeXt beta I am way too wary and a beginner to do it or to give any advice... However \placefigure still works fine as one can see through the following example (you should replace "anyGraphic.jpg" with the name of a graphic file existing in the path): \starttext \placefigure[right]{none}{\externalfigure[anyGraphic.jpg][type=buffer,he ight=.4\textheight]} \stoptext and the following doesn't work anymore... \useexternalfigure[anyGraphic][anyGraphic][width=.5\textwidth, method=png, frame=off] \starttext \input knuth \startfiguretext[left][] {none} {\externalfigure[anyGraphic]} \input tufte \stopfiguretext \stoptext Cheers: OK
