I am using the Termes typeface in the TeXGyre distribution and should like to have all numerals print automatically as oldstyle numerals. Is there an explanation/demonstration anywhere of how to make this happen? I have searched the wiki and the archive, but have not yet been able to make anything work. Any tips or suggestions will be much appreciated. Alan

Wolfgang— Thank you very much for the files: they do have what I need. But where do these these files come from? I have not found them on my installation of TeXLive/ConTeXt or on the TeX Gyre website. All best, Alan On Jul 2, 2007, at 3:31 AM, Wolfgang Schuster wrote:

Hi,
Thank you very much for the files: they do have what I need. But where do these these files come from? I have not found them on my installation of TeXLive/ConTeXt or on the TeX Gyre website.
You can easily create your own variants from the otfs that ship with texlive2007. You can use texfont or (for example) otfinstall (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/otfinstall). Patrick
Thanks, Patrick. I have just downloaded oftinstall and will start to experiment with it (and texfont too). Best Alan On Jul 3, 2007, at 6:45 AM, Patrick Gundlach wrote:

Hi Allan, I created the tfm files from the opentype fonts with otftotfm. Wolfgang
Wolfgang— When I run your termes-test-2.tex, with the lines \starttext 0123456789 \rm Text---fix this scientifically \rm Text---fix this scientifically \rm Text---fix this scientifically \rm Text---fix this scientifically \stoptext I get the oldstyle numerals (which is great), but the “fi”s in “fix” and “scientifically” are not printed but left blank. I will take a look into the files, it is a problem with the ligatures. Wolfgang

Hi Alan, you can now choose one of three options: - you can use the attached map-file and use the opentype version from the termes fonts - I can send you the type1 fonts, I got from otftotfm with the map file - you can create your tfm files from the type1 fonts included in the termes package Wolfgang
Hi, Wolfgang— First, many thanks for resolving the ligature problem. The test-files (and my current project) are looking as they should. Let me try generating the type1 files and so forth on my own using otftotfm. I have not used otftotfm before and probably should learn about it.
