Hi all, After upgrading to TeXLive 2007, I'm experiencing a strange issue with Lucida Bright. It seems that none of the math font is working. The system keeps reporting "TFM file can't be found" even though it's there. The normal text (nonmath) -- roman/sans serif, etc., is working. What can I do now? Thanks in advance! I did a bit more research.. It seems that the file "special.map" is
interfering... Here's the log:
(/usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf-dist/tex/context/base/type-buy.tex))
kpathsea: Running mktextfm lbmo
mkdir: ././Users/Colin/.texlive2007/texmf-var/fonts/tfm: Permission denied
mktextfm: mktexdir
/Users/Colin/.texlive2007/texmf-var/fonts/tfm/yandy/lumath failed.
kpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log. !
Font \*lucida7ptmmmirm*:=lbmo at 7.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file
not found.
Anyone can help?
Thanks!!!
Helin

That is unrelated. Despite it's name, special.map is not a font map file. It only provides location hints for programs like mktexpk and mktextfm, so that they know where to place generated bitmaps and metrics and such.
Here's the log:
TeXLive does not ship the latex package and metrics from YandY's older version of the lucidabright font set, only the new metrics from the current package that is sold by TUG: http://www.tug.org/store/lucida/index.html The ConTeXt macros were never updated to that new set of metrics, presumably because Hans already has the old set from YandY, so he never looked at the new package at all. Best wishes, Taco
Hi Taco,
Thanks for the reply.
But I'm not using the old yandy version... I am using the B&H version...
Does it make a difference?

there was some email exchange about and i wanted the l*.tfm math metrics to be included but this was rejected which left me with a compatbility problem; for some reason adding about 10 generic tfm files is a bigger burden than a truckload of non generic fd files -) Hans ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------

when yandy was dissolved tug took over distribution and they decided not to ship the original tfm metrics but only latex related files; because the 'new' metrics are different from the original ones, i don't support them (if only because i've been using lucida quite extensively and i don't want to break anything); there is a cont-fnt.zip on the website that shoul dhave them i guess that if enough complaints reach tug they may reconsider adding the original tfm files (only a handful) Hans ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------
