Indeed, under ConTeXt, unknown or incorrect arguments are simply ignored.

(in other cases, for example forgetting \stoptext, ConTeXt protests vocally) maybe enable xml export and check it with xmllint \setubackend[export=yes] see back-exp.mkiv
