Hi Hans and Taco, Perphas you guys already know this, but mkiv does not run in TL09. I tried generating the format and I get !!!!: Your luatex binary is way too old, you need at least version 0.42. The included luatex binary is (the date seems wrong?) Version beta-0.40.6-2009090923 (TeX Live 2009/Arch Linux) luatex.web >= v14240 Does this basically mean that in order to use mkiv with TL, I have to manually update the luatex binary? Aditya

The appended date and time in the version number is always the compilation date, it does not reflect anything about the sources that were used.
