Dear gang, I am now on WinXP now (up from W2000) and only use mswincontext.zip for my TeX'ing needs. However, I need to install LaTeX for legacy purposes (mainly Lambda/Aleph critical edition stuff). fpTeX is gone, I can't find XemTeX (broken link https://xemtex.groups.foundry.supelec.fr/downloads/xemtex-0.5-rc0.msi ) so I guess that leaves MiKTeX. Any advice on choosing/installing a minimal LaTeX distribution? Updated links? Sorry for the sacrilege-) Best Idris ============================ Professor Idris Samawi Hamid Department of Philosophy Colorado State University Fort Collins, CO 80523

I heard the best choice would be proTeXt (also on TeXlive DVD), that installs an adapted edition of MikTeX. Grüßlis vom Hraban! --- http://www.fiee.net/texnique/ http://contextgarden.net http://www.cacert.org (I'm an assurer)

no google over there ? google for 'xemtex' and 'download' and you get: http://www.metz.supelec.fr/~popineau/xemtex-2.html
leaves MiKTeX.

just copy the complete (tex live) texmf tree over your minimal context texmf tree (context is in texmf-local so it's safe) Hans
