Hello Hans, \registerhyphenationexception as described in latest languages-mkiv.pdf and i-context.pdf does nothing, contrary to \startexceptions, which behaves as expected. Here is the minimal example: \mainlanguage[cs] \showmakeup[discretionary] \registerhyphenationexception[cs][cíl-em]% % \startexceptions[cs] % cíl-em % \stopexceptions \startTEXpage cílem \stopTEXpage By the way, what is the reason to print \showlayout on four pages? Regards, Jano

Hi Jano, this shows the right hyphenation: \setuplanguage[cs][righthyphenmin=2] \mainlanguage[cs] \setuphyphenation[method=traditional] \registerhyphenationexception[cs][cíl-em]% \starttext \startTEXpage[offset=1ex] \hyphenatedword{cílem} \stopTEXpage \stoptext The value for righthyphenmin in Czech is 3. Unless you set it up to 2, it won’t work. I hope it helps, Pablo -- http://www.ousia.tk
