the expansion introduces the ,
just to play it safe, putting {} around all \getvariable{}{} as in author={\getvariable{Book}{author}}, does not change anything. Acroread still displays quotes around the authors. Curiously, they do not appear under okular, so this is probably an Acroread quirk. Alan
