I might add to this report the following observation: In a document with \setuppapersize [S8][S8] the shifts appear now and then, whereas these are typeset normally when the document is place on \setuppapersize [A4][A4]. I do not have a minimal example at hand, the document is too big for that and as said, I could not yet force the behaviour. Both \placefigure's are exactly the same apart from their specific contents.
Anyone who knows about this problem? For me it is quite a problem, because it ruins the document layout considerably.
