To make it work I had to use your suggestion given in this lest earlier

\startlinecorrection
\setlocalhsize \hsize\localhsize
\startframedtext
...
\stopframedtext
\stoplinecorrection

However, is there any chance to get an answer to my second question about splitting natural tables placed inside itemized list? it is in the original message for the thread.
Any ideas?
