(1) I couldn't find any setup parameters to manipulate the default font chosen for the the cells. It is by far too small (I'm preparing a screen presentation).

ah, not for cells, but for lines there is now some (yet incomplete) trickery, like: \connection [bt][2,0] {jobs} which i needef for the ex-gui manual.
