Instead of \getvariable I had used \getvar on line 3206. But the error message of ConTeXt was pointing me to line 330. This makes finding and correcting errors a little difficult.
Well, tex does not store line numbers for macro definitions which is understandable as a macro is just a sequence of tokens where normally a newline becomes either nothing or a spurious space. The line number that gets reported is the linenumber where the error is invoked.
