I guess this is a font problem,
using XITS [1][2] (Is that the also the fonts name?), everything is
shown correctly.

        \setupbodyfont[xits]

        ⅛ ist $\frac18$.
        
        ½, ⅓, ¼, ⅕, ⅙, ⅛
        \stoptext
...
but maybe fall backs could be added?
Since I am wondering why ½ should work but not for example ⅛.
