Indeed, pointing OSFONTDIR to some dummy directory works here (MACOSX 10.9) latest beta.
Perhaps superfluous but users of TeXShop should make that assignment in their engine files. If there is a more general way to put this environment variable in TeXShop in will be glad to hear.

Putting OSFONTDIR=“” export OSFONTDIR did not help, ConTeXt keeps using the MacOSX libraries. How to kill these? Without a solution I cannot typeset.
