Is there a problem with font metrics for charter?
\definetypeface [mainface][rm][serif][charter][default] [encoding=texnansi] \setupbodyfont[mainface, 10pt] \starttext POMDP. Test \stoptext
The dot is a bit too close to the P, almost touching the vertical line. Is there an easy way to correct this?
The easy way is to break the pair and then type e.g.: POMDP\kern -0.1pt.
...or whatever distance suits your eye. You will need to test the distance. The number of these occurrences should be small. A slightly harder way as to define a macro for each combination that troubles you. Or you can do what Hans suggests below as a more general solution. But I would test the distances first.
this is indeed a very annoying property of these font metrics (there are more such weird kern pairs), you can edit the afm files and regenerate the texnansi metrics
Thank You. For the time being I have done manual correction since I have to finish the whole thing by tomorrow. I will explore modifying afm files when I have a bit more time. Thanks, Aditya
