the texinfo code looks quite clean so overloading some should be doable (if you know what to overload)
It probably must be integrated into the Texinfo setup, because though one can hack the .texi source file for LuaTeX, it fails in the generation of other formats. But it would be nice if one could run ConTeXt and have access to its typesetting capabilities.
