I am coming back with I hope a lighter MWE concerning the issue I am confronting to : it seems impossible to get italics within both body text, footnotes and bibliographical titles. just looking at the PDF (knowing nothing about bibliographies), I can't see any italics in the text, so the first thought is: is the italics font setup correct? I would try italics in the main text or using context default font. You can try \enabletrackers[publications.*] and \enabletrackers[fonts.*] to see in log what's going on. If it doesn't help a minimal working example is needed.
