Sorry for the bother, Wolfgang. I think I have the answer now (see my message earlier by about 30 seconds). I had not realized that the textstyle key in \setupregister could take a command for positioning the head as well as its actual style. Sorry: My effort escaped without a subject line.
In placing the heads and subheads of indices, \index defaults to
Head locator Head subhead locator
I need to get the subhead without repeating the Head, as in Head locator subhead locator
How can I do this?
Example needed!
Wolfgang
