put this in cont-new.mkiv:

     \unexpanded\def\styledrootradical#1#2%
       {\normalexpanded{\rootradical

           \normalunexpanded{#2}}}}

but next upload test again (as i'm experimenting with it a bit just for 
the sake of cleaner code).
