I get ligatures when using TeX Gyre Termes, but not with FreeSerif, Old
Standard or Theano Didot.
AFAIK, all fonts have the liga feature correctly defined.
Try “\setmainfont[…][script=latn]”.
Replacing "\setmainfont[FreeSerif]" with
"\setmainfont[FreeSerif][script=latn]" doesn't work either.

What is wrong here?
