compilation hangs with this message:

When I hit enter, I get
mtx-context | fatal error: return code: 1
but the produced pdf appears to be correct. The same file compiles fine with version 2018.10.02 23:17. I don't have any version in between. I'll see if I can produce a MWE, but I wanted to give you a heads up in advance.
Is this bibliography related, or rather a luatex error? Alan
