It's 15:54 now (your post is at 12:51). Just updated but ConTeXt is
always broken !!!

this is strange as it does make a proper format here and on taco's 
machine; your problem comes from

local variables = interfaces.variables

you can add a line table.print(variables) to see what is in there

if it's empty ... you might be missing mult-def.lua
