One of the major advantages of plain PostScript over PDF is, that PS is a complete programming language and you can even write your own printer-destroying virus. Nice!
SUSE had (have?) a graphical menu extension to GRUB boot loader written in PostScript. Don't ask me why I remembered this now, but I always found it one of most weird uses of PostSscript I've ever seen.
