My fault, they were indeed somewhat restricted -rwx----- and that is unnecessary. Just too artless copied from their develop location to the distribution directory.
Sorry for the hassles.

After a little more digging, I found that the permissions of the hvdm files downloaded by TeX Live Utility were set to 700 (I don't know if this is the default for http://tlcontrib.metatex.org/ or just an oversight). I chmod them to 644 and everything works fine. Thanks for your responses.

Hello everyone.

I am new to ConTeXt, but a frequent LaTeX user. I have got ConTeXt to
compile simple text documents, and want to try to use the hvdm-exm.tex
package (or module?) from http://tlcontrib.metatex.org/ When I try to load
it with \usemodule I get the error
module hvdm-exm not found
I am using TeX Live 2010 on Mac OS X 10.6.4. Any thoughts?

did you run mtxrun --generate after installation?
