I think I completely misunderstood what you want. This works for me, that is, "context" is not capitalized. \definesynonyms[Test][Tests][\Full] \setupsynonyms[Test][textstyle=cap] \Test{BLA}{This is B.L.A.} \Test[CONTEXT]{\nocap{context}}{This is \ConTeXt} \starttext \BLA\ and \CONTEXT. \Full{BLA} and \Full{CONTEXT} \stoptext Aditya
