You could add this after my stuff: \def\Abstract#1{\startAbstract #1\stopAbstact} or use the \directsetup calls directly (then you don't need the \definestartstop, and keep on using \define): \define[1]\Abstract {\directsetup{abstract:before}#1\directsetup{abstract:after}} Best wishes, Taco
