Indeed the binary paths I have for my TeX programs are
/usr/local/gwTeX/bin/ /usr/texbin
of which the first one contains the directory
/usr/local/gwTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin7.9.0
However, in this directory I only have a file "pdftex" which is not a directory, and therefore the command
cd /usr/local/gwTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin7.9.0/pdftex/
results in:
bash: cd: /usr/local/gwTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin7.9.0/pdftex/: Not a directory
Sorry, that was a typo! So in your case, that should be cd /usr/local/gwTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin7.9.0 Btw, "rehash" is not the same as "texhash": in some shells (I use zsh, the best shell in the world), you run this command when you add a new binary to your path. Thomas
