"However this does not work properly in mkiv ..." this suggests that it could work in mkiv but math in mkiv has a completely different implementation so it isn't even supposed to work maybe it's better to talk about mkiv as being the standard way and mkii being the 'old way' or so

I'm glad it helped. The range gives the unicode slots where these letters "live".

Hans: Maybe this is a stupid suggestion, but could it be possible to have

\definefontfamilypreset [math:lowercasecalligraphic] as range={1D4B6-1D4CF,212F,210A,2134} and \definefontfamilypreset [math:uppercasecalligraphic] as range={1D49C-1D4B5,212C,2130,2131,210B,2110,2112,2133,211B} ?

Otared, If what I write above makes sense, then the setup will be the more readable

\definefallbackfamily[mainface][math][Asana Math][range={lowercasecalligraphic,uppercasecalligraphic}] \definefontfamily [mainface] [rm] [palatino] \definefontfamily [mainface] [math] [Latin Modern Math] \setupbodyfont[mainface]
