Are you sure from a stylistic point-of-view that you want a figure caption (or figure label) refer to a footnote? Although there can be different schools of thought on the editorial style of figures and figure captions, I would find it confusing for a floating object to use a non-local footnote. My suggestion (as a sometimes editor) would be to find another solution in this case, not that I am trying to let ConTeXt off the hook... Alan
