i don't generate / touch manuals when i'm in the middle of something (as they can end up in the distribution)

so just make a small example

1. The file “fonts-formats.tex” uses \ShowKernedHBox which isn’t defined.

2. The file “fonts-appendix.tex” tries to load the Lua file “fonts-mkiv-usedfonts.lua” which doesn’t exist.

3. The file "fonts-hooks.tex” results in the following error message (attached is a shorter version which shows the same error):
