It's a simple wrapper around \hbox with a fixed width and the possibility to align the content either to the left, right or centred within the box. \simplealignedbox{<width>}{}{<content>} translates to \hbox to <width>{<content>\hss} %% left alignment \hbox to <width>{\hss<content>} %% right alignment \hbox to <width>{\hss<content>\hss} \hss pushes the content to the left or right, respectively.
