Sorry, it seems the issue appears only when used in footnote. I joined a minimal example. You can see in the output that there is a space in the text, but not in the footnote.

I don’t know why the space is removed in the footnote but when you use a nonbreakable space with ~ it won’t disappear. Wolfgang
