I understand from these messages I may look forward to implementation of searching for "thefile.tex" and then for "thefile" in the next update. Appreciate that very much. It is not for compatibility alone, I was asking. I have a great many files that are used in another context then ConTeXt, but are included in a typeset document collection. This seems a very nasty difference to me, because it will necessitate me to rename a great many files. Is this behaviour intended? I would advise against using filenames without an extension, but nevertheless it would be nice if aux.find_file (I hope I got the function name right) would at least test for the existance of ./<filename> Hans (Hagen), is that OK with you?
