Jean-Pierre, your code contains "\start\fr" with no matching "\stop". I wonder whether "\startlanguage[fr] ... \stoplanguage" would be more readable.
The same file works fine under Linux. Line numbering couldn’t be solved by ConTeXt (I’m on Linux 64bit).
