You could try (untested) \def\googlechart[#1][#2]% {\externalfigure[#1][...]% \endgroup} or \def\dogooglechart[#1][#2]% {\useexternalfigure[googlechart][#1]% \endgroup \externalfigure[googlechart][...]}
