Hello, is it possible to use a block of context code depending on a value of a Lua variable? I tried something like: --- \starttext \directlua{test = true} %\directlua{test = 5} %\directlua{test = "a"} \doifempty{\directlua{return test}} %\doifempty{\directlua{test}} {Yes} {No} \stoptext --- But this gives me always "No". - I'm not sure if this is a good way, and whether attempt to use \doif(...) macro is a good idea at all. structure: products and subfolders

Dear ConTeXt folks, following [1] I do not get any PDF output running `context project.tex`. The product files are in a subfolder. I verified that first with [2] in a flat structure and then adding a subfolder where no output is created. Hi all, I have a document in which I must draw several triangles for which two summits, say z0, z1, and the length of the two other sides are known, so that the third summit, say z2, is completly determined. I'm trying to store the virtual lua chess fonts I'm currently creating so that latex and context can use them. 1. At first I stored the vf-chess-XX.lua in tex/luatex. This works for latex but not for context. tex/generic works for both. 2. My fonts loads a lua-file which should be shared by all fonts with chessfss=require('chessfss') latex finds the chessfss.lua without problems in various locations (e.g. tex/generic) but context not. I am still experimenting. With the default ' is reasonably displayed, but ` not. I liked palatino, but then even ' is not displayed nicely. What is the best (standard installed) font where both ' and ` are good displayed? -- Cecil Westerhof

Automatic cross reference to next page at automatic page breaks only

Dear all, I am trying to create a screen document that relies entirely on navigation via links. A typically page has several cross references in it the reader has to choose from (think of multiple choice tests). Occasionally, a page is too long to fit on a single screen. I would like to have a link to the next page at the bottom right corner of the screen whenever a page break occurs that is not forced via say a new section. In other words, whenever *automatic* page breaks occur, I want that extra link in the footer. In all other cases, I have my own manual links. Any ideas? Thanks, Matthias

Hi, in mtx-context | current version: 2011.03.22 13:59, using MkIV the following code My \index{dog}dog is a \index{dog+bullterrier}bullterrier named \seeindex{Dolly}{Underware}Dolly. He doesn't like \index{cat}cats. There are a lot of \index{cat+stray}stray cats, but only a few of them are \index{cat+Siamese}Siamese. \placeindex Produces only "see Underware" under "d" in Index, without "Dolly". MkII works fine. Floating picture and footnotes

Hello, I encountered a bit strange effects when using footnotes in the area which is formed by a floating object. Endash tlig not working

Hello, the automatic replacement of -- to endash does not work with a certain font. \endash does work and produces the expected symbol. I also have these lines in my code: \definefontfeature[tlig][default][tlig=yes] \addff{tlig} I checked that the endash is at position U+2013 in the font. What else could be wrong here?

I use setupinteraction to set certain properties. But it looks like that subject can not be set. Is this true? Also keywords is a box (in acroread). Would it be possible to get the keywords under each-other instead as one long line? Would it be possible to change the Document Restrictions? Dear All, My xml docbook file contains a number of graphics. Some are regular figures, some are edgefigures. I have two questions in this respect. That is, referring through <xref linkend="cow"/> is not difficult to implement, but for some reason the mapping of the id is not that obvious. Dear Wolfgang, Thank you for reminding me the thread. I also found it yesterday evening and it made me realize how dumb I am. I am so sorry to give you a needless work. I'd like to ask you one more. I was looking for a way to use some characters as an item head like \startitemize[a] because an official document usually use numbers and some characters as item heads. For consecutive characters in unicode, it is possible to do that using unicode. \def\circledja#1{\uchar{50}{95+#1}} \def\circledga#1{\uchar{50}{109+#1}} \def\circleden#1{\uchar{36}{207+#1}} and \defineconversion[][]. But for characters which are not listed consecutively, I don't know how to make it appear automatically. I may use \sym{} AC00, B098, B2E4, B77C, ... These are the same characters in the area 320E ~ 321B without parenthesis. Is it possible to make those characters appear automatically as item heads? I hope that it is not a silly question. The document I am writing consists of several parts and now my question is the following: In the table of contents, the line corresponding to the start of a new part always starts like "Part 1 Name of first part". How do I get rid of the "Part", so that the corresponding line starts directly with the number of the part like "1 Name of the first Part"? Dear all, I'd like to use circled number for item head. I found one method which use a counter as follows: \def\circlednum#1{\uchar{36}{95+#1}} \defineconversion[myitem][\circlednum] \starttext \startitemize[myitem, pack] \item 111 \item 222 \item 333 \item 444 \item 555 \stopitemize \stoptext But it has a limitation of numbers. Use of em dash and en dash

Until now I always used a - (minus sign) to define a sub sentence or for an optional word, like: This is -now- not necessary, I understood that normally you use the em dash for this. But for only a word, this seems a little big. Could I then use an en dash or should I keep using a minus sign? In which other places should they be used? -- Cecil Westerhof

Hello, I have found another minor problem in the bibl-apa style (ConTeXt v. 2011.02.25 22:03), this time for Master's theses, which get an extra space between the phrase ‘Master's Thesis,’ and the university's name and address, thus: Smith, A. B. (2000). A Thesis Title. Master's thesis, City, Country: University of Something. I think this would be better as: Smith, A. B. (2000). A Thesis Title. Master's thesis. City, Country: University of Something. (This also changes the comma to a dot.) I hope that these can be incorporated, if they meet with agreement. Aside: this still doesn't correspond to current official APA style (though it's a bit closer), but I'm not sure how many people care about that. In my case I only care that my bibliography doesn't show obvious weirdness like double spaces. Minimals MKIV ignores the structureenvironment blocks when the suffix is 'matter' but applies them if the suffix is 'part.' Furthermore, they are applied in \starttext if between \startfrontmatter -- \stopfrontmatter, etc. blocks and error if between \startfrontpart -- \stopfrontpart, etc. blocks. The following code executes but does not apply the environment block commands. Commenting out the three \startstructureblockenvironment commands with 'matter" arguments and uncommenting the three 'part' commands will cause the environment block commands to be executed. Table of Contents entries without page numbers

It is relatively easy to create table of contents entries without chapter numbers, but I can't figure out how to include entries without page numbers. I want to place a title page, 'Appendices,' in the ToC after the last chapter and before the first appendix. I can easily create the page using \title{Appendices} but it doesn't show up in the ToC. Using \chapter{Appendices} creates a ToC entry with a page number and an appendix number, which can be eliminated. There must be some way of placing headers within a ToC. Producing quotesingle glyph

Hello, This may be a stupid question, but I can't work out how to produce the ' character (quotesingle, unicode 0x0027) glyph in a document. Just typing the character in the source produces a quoteright as expected. Here are my other attempts: \starttext \quotesingle \getnamedglyphdirect{lm}{quotesingle} \uchar{00}{39} \stoptext They all produce quoteright as well. Does anyone have a better suggestion? Hi I'm getting the same lines by using setupfields (in widgets), but this time I don't even get an output. Different fontsize in header and footer

I thought I saw it once, but I can not find it. I like to use another fontsize in my headers and footers. At the moment I have solved it in this way: \setupfootertexts[{\switchtobodyfont[6pt]Pagina \pagenumber \space van \lastpage}] But then I have to do this everywhere I change the text for header/footer. Is there a way to set the fontsize (and font) globally? -- Cecil Westerhof

How to get the style definitions from \chapter, \section, \subsection

The style of chapter is significant bigger as the style from section, but it looks like the style from section and subsection are about the same. I have a workaround with the following: \setuphead[section][before={\blank[3*big] \testpage[15]}] \setuphead[subsection][before={\blank[big,small] \testpage[10]},style={\bf}] This works reasonable. But it would be better if I could find out the definitions from \section and \subsection. Then I could make a more fine-tuned solution. Is it possible to get those definitions? -- Cecil Westerhof
