Some problems creating a wiki page

I started making a page about indent: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/indent Two problems. When using the following in context: \setupindenting[yes,medium,next] \starttext \input knuth \blank \input knuth \stoptext The first paragraph after the blank is indented, but on the wiki it is not. When using the following code: \setupindenting[yes,medium,next] \usemodule[fancybreak] \definefancybreak[myblank][indentnext=no] \starttext \input knuth \myblank \input knuth \stoptext It compiles under ConTeXt without a problem, but on the wiki I get a texexec error. -- Cecil Westerhof

Problem with \completecontent

\date problem with \mainlanguage[fr] in mkiv

Hi Hans, With the latest beta (ConTeXt version 2011.04.13 09:23) on the minimals I noticed a small bug with the command \date in mkiv: when the mainlanguage is st to [fr], the command \date gives: 14spaceavrilspace2011 that is the word « avril » is replaced with « spaceavrilspace ». With [it] or [es], there is no such problem. In mkii everything is fine. Minimal example: \starttext Here there is no problem: today's date: \date \mainlanguage[fr] Here there is a problem: aujourd'hui: \date \stoptext Best regards: OK

bug with \cite in latest beta (2011.04.13)

Hello all, there are some problems with the citecommand in the latest beta. I always get a LuaTeX error... Actually i was in the middle of narrowing down a bug where a \cite command in a caption produced a entry in the publication list of the caption text (and also made that sometimes interaction did not work with some references in the text), so i tried to update to the latest beta and now the document does not compile any more. LilyPond nowadays

Hi all, I've gotten back to tinkering with LilyPond, and wanted to ask if someone could send a small example of the new method of handling it, especially with some lilypond settings in the .ly file mentioned below. My initial trials make place the lilypond results on their own page. How would we get them placed in-line? How to set oldstyle numbering globally?

Hi, In my earlier MkIV minimal ConTeXt installation (dec.2010) I used the following in my preamble to activate oldstyle numbering: \usetypescript[schola] \setupbodyfont[schola,8pt] \definefontfeature [oldstyle] [default] [onum=yes] \addff{oldstyle} but this doesn't seem to work anymore in my recently installed minimal ConTeXt installation (ConTeXt ver: 2011.03.30 11:21 MkIV fmt: 2011.3.30 int: english/english). Dear all, is there a way to change the style and size of the font used to print "Instruments" in the following example ? I would like something like \bfb\ss. \textrule[top]{Instruments} Some artists mention the instruments that they use during the production of their \kap{CD}. In Peter Gabriel’s \quote {Digging in the dust} he used the {\em diembe}, {\em tama} and {\em surdu}. The information on another song mentions the {\em doudouk}. Hello. I use a few tools from ConTeXt such as mptopdf, and whenever I run them they generate a 'luatex-cache' folder directly under my user folder, but this luatex-cache folder is not hidden. How can I configure ConTeXt or luatex to tell it where the cache folder should be? (I looked up the archives and docs but I didn't find anything about this.) When I use the background it either comes down over the footnotes or pushes them on to the following blank page. Setting width=... will change the per column width, which I don't like either. Loss of footnotes while using background colour

Typesetting url's in ConTeXt?

There's a wiki page all about typesetting url's, but I can't seem to get them to work. All I want to do is to display a url in a typewriter font, for document printing - I don't need a live link. What I want is for the output to be similar to that provided by LaTeX's url package, so that, for example: \url{https://This_is_a_url.html} would be appropriately typeset, including all such ascii characters as underscores. Hacking around I've come quite close, with the only problem that when the underlining begins at the start of a paragraph there gets an empty (grid) line inserted before it. inside and outside margins (vs. 'left' and 'right' margins)

I want to define 'inside' and 'outside' margins (i.e. left and right pages are symmetrical, not the same). Reading the document 'co-pagedesign.pdf', ConTeXt talks about 'left' and 'right' margins (and other measurements). At first I thought this must be either a 'representative' left or right page (the diagram on page 3 doesn't say which), but experimenting suggests that there really is no concept of left and right pages here (despite the incredible detail that the document goes into on arranging pages etc which must understand this). In short this is a basic requirement. How do I solve it? James

Wiki: MkIV vs. MkII

Hello, I encountered a problem running an example by MkII (which seems to be default) rather than by MkIV (see related discussion on http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2011/058369.html) Although in many examples (I mean <context> ... </context> wiki source code) in doesn't matter which Ctx version is being used for compilation, sometimes it may make a difference. So I seems to me to be good: - to provide both compilation engines, MkII and MkIV, - to provide a <context> attribute, e.g. <context engine="mkiv"> or <context mark="iv"> or something like this to force the specified Ctx to compile. The spaces in front of the lines are not taken into account for the two defined macros. TeX: Macro definition

Hello, how to define a macro to take the new-line character as end-of-parameter? The following macro: \def\T#1\par{#1} takes everything until \par (or empty line as it equals \par primitive) as #1, so the following is valid: \T abc def\par \T abc \T def (#1 becomes: "abc def", "abc" and "def".) How to define the same macro to accept end-of-line as end-of-parameter? I tried (although I'm aware this may not lead to the goal): \def\T#1^^M{#1} or \def\T#1\crlf{#1} to allow writing: \T abc def \T abc \T def So how to define the macro? Thanks in advance. Hi If I have two frames within one frame, how can I vertically align the first (well, or both) framed to top or middle. Thanks Peter! You are right it is easier to draw both the wave and the line in Metapost. And the dx=-\cutspace is just what I needed for left pages! I striped the frames out of the code and placed just the graphics in the layer with a reuseMPgraphic. Also, I pulled out the definition of the wave into a MPinclusions. Footnotes: Individual number styles

Sorry to bother again, but how do I change the style of the footnote number that is IN THE TEXT. Not the ones under the line, I can manipulate those with numbercommand. Let's just say I want a normal serif body text, but the footnote numbers are sans serif (or red, if you will) To clarify: This is the main² text. The little two after main wants to be painted red. Here comes more text... __________ ² This two down here does not want to be red. Is this possible?

Hello, is there a possibility to use Ctx Lua to convert strings containing diacritics to upper/lower case? I have a .cld file, UTF-8, and ("Přehledná"):upper() gives "PřEHLEDNá" whilst the desired result is "PŘEHLEDNÁ". Is there a way how to solve this? Footnotes set in columns have no line break

Hello, I want my footnotes in columns, but there is apparently no line breaking going on (text from the first column is overlapping the second and so on). Example: \setupfootnotes[n=2] \starttext \dorecurse{6}{\input hawking\footnote{Nevertheless, if the exponential growth continued, there would be ten.}} \stoptext This DOES give the desired output in the online context thingy (i.e MkII), but not my win32 minimals installation with MkIV. Using forms and saving values

I have –simplified– the following: \starttext \defineframed [action] [width=5cm, height=3cm, offset=none, frameoffset=.5\linewidth] \action{} \stoptext What I would like to do is to let the user input some text and display it in this frame. (In reality there will be more frames.) When the text is to big to be displayed in the frame, it should be rejected. This is so that the document can be modified with the text from the user. I also would like to save the input from the user in a file, so that it can be used later again. Is this possible? -- Cecil Westerhof

Is it possible 1) to avoid the TOC creation or 2) to determine another TOC location? - Why there is "%5C" in the links above? Any way how to avoid this? No indent after a flowchart

I am using indent, but do not want indent in the first paragraph. A paragraph after a flowchart is always the first paragraph. Is there a way to have no indent in that paragraph? I could put a \myblank between the flowchart and the paragraph. But that is not a very neat solution. -- Cecil Westerhof

Completely misunderstood the problem from the beginning. Wiki entry reverted. But I still hope that there is an easier solution to resolving a psuedo smallcaps from available capitals in a font in mkIV. Small capitals broken in latest beta?

Hello, could it be that in the latest beta (ConTeXt ver: 2011.03.30 11:21 MKIV) the font feature 'small capitals' is broken? Can someone who has Minion Pro test this, please? I'm using \usemodule[simplefonts] \definefontfeature[smcp][default][smcp=yes] \def\sc{\addff{smcp}} \definefontfeature[allc][default][smcp=yes,c2sc=yes] \def\allc{\addff{allc}} \setmainfont[Minion Pro][expansion=quality, protrusion=quality] \starttext {\sc Test} {\allc Test} \stoptext No small capitals :(

Side effect of virtual fonts

I made two copies of luatex-fonts-demo-vf-1.lua named vf-a.lua and vf-b.lua (The original file can be found in \context-minimals\context\tex\texmf-context\tex\generic\context). In both copies I changed the three fonts the virtual font uses as basis to "Arial". In vf-b.lua I added after the for-loop which manipulates the caracters this code: f1.characters[98].width=3000000 f2.characters[98].width=3000000 f3.characters[98].width=3000000 f1.characters[97]= nil f2.characters[97]= nil f3.characters[97]= nil It has the expected effect when I use vf-b: It enlarges the width of the "b" and removes the "a" from the font. But it not only affect the vf-b-font, it also affects vf-a: If I load vf-a *after* vf-b, it also loose the "a" and the width of "b" is changed. In a older version of context, where the lua used "fonts.tfm.readanddefine" instead of the new "fonts.constructors.readanddefine" I got an side effect too, but only on the "a". My questions are 1. Why do I get the side effect only when f1, f2 and f3 call the same font? Chance (because of the math random) or something else? 2. How can I make a virtual lua-font which is free of such side effects? 3. I got errors when I tried to use the old version of the virtual font with the newest context. Is "fonts.tfm.readanddefine" now deprecated? -- Ulrike Fischer
