\parshape doesn't work as expected for TRT direction in PDF mode, it works fine in DVI mode but in PDF indentation moves the text to the right instead of to the left. This breaks LaTeX lists in TRT direction. See the difference between DVI and PDF output of the attached plain TeX sample file.
