Hi again, I have $ kpsewhich cow.pdf /opt/local/texmf/tex/context/sample/cow.pdf and \starttext \externalfigure[cow] Hello world! \stoptext But all I get is: (hello.log - see second line) systems : begin file hello at line 2 figures : figure cow can not be found color : system rgb is local activated Latest beta, of course. It looks as if kpathsea doesn't look in the samples directory. kdebug:kpse_find_file: searching for ./cow.pdf of type tex (from texmf.cnf) kdebug:start search(files=[./cow.pdf.tex ./cow.pdf], must_exist=0, find_all=0, path=.:!!/var/tmp/te tex3/texmf-config/tex/context//[....nothing with "sample"....] Is this a known new feature? You have to set the graphics path to something to get search functionality, I believe.
still no luck: \setupexternalfigures[directory={/opt/local/texmf/tex/context/sample}] in cont-sys.tex and cow.pdf is definately at /opt/local/texmf/tex/context/sample/cow.pdf but still "figures : figure cow can not be found" Patrick -- ConTeXt wiki and more: http://contextgarden.net
