The MetaPost team is happy to announce a new release of MetaPost:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MetaPost 1.101
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The sources and a win32 package can be downloaded immediately from
http://foundry.supelec.fr/projects/metapost/
This release will also be available from CTAN soon, and it will be
included in the next TeXLive. The source package should compile normally
on all systems that are capable of compiling a modern web2c-based TeX
distribution.
The win32 package is intended for texlive or a similar web2c-based
installation, and has been tested only with TeXLive 2008. These
executables will *not* work for miktex, sorry.
Of course, we welcome any comments (either good or bad) that you may
have. Simply replying to this message is fine, but see the bottom of
the message for a more formal way to report bugs and feature requests.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What is new in MetaPost version 1.101:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is just a bugfix release. The following bugs / problem areas in
MetaPost 1.100 have been fixed / improved:
* TFM file generation was completely broken.
* The job name discovery on the commandline has been improved.
* Under some (rare) conditions MetaPost forgot to create a log file.
* Labels containing char0 were exported to PostScript incorrectly.
* On Windows, the DVI file that is the result from the internal call
to TeX for btex .. etex lables was not deleted automatically.

I built 1.101 in linux using the build.sh script and copied the mpost executable to my path. However, running mpost complains in the following way: Sorry, I can't find that mem file; will try PLAIN. I can't find the PLAIN mem file! I'd appreciate any thoughts on how to fix this. Thanks, Troy

Obviously, it can't find the mpost.mem file. Likely causes: * There is no mpost.mem file * It exists but can't be found due to missing mktexlsr * It exists but texmf.cnf can't be found (this happens is the binary is not close enough to its texmf/ tree). You can run $ mpost --kpathsea-debug=7 to see what files mpost tries to open Best wishes, Taco
