A Note for module authors: Version String Guidelines
Hi to all module authors! The CTAN team (Manfred) and us (Mojca and I) have recently been setting up a new system whereby CTAN automatically picks up new, updated versions of the ConTeXt modules that want to be archived on CTAN. For this system to properly pickup new versions of modules, it is vital that the Version of such modules is coded as YYYY.MM.DD or YYYY-MM-DD. The YYYY.MM.DD format has a slight advantage, because it follows the traditional version number setup of <Major>.<Minor>.<Revision>, but the version with dashes works as well. So, if you are a module author on https://modules.contextgarden.net/ and want to benefit from this automatic update of the your new module version to CTAN, then please make sure your version string matches the above specification. Version strings like “r10” and "hg-rev57” cannot be parsed automatically, so any module updates you make using such version strings will more than likely be ignored. Best wishes, Taco
