Nothing is completely stable within the texmf tree :-) I'm not sure if the next remarks help or only muddy the situation even more, but will post them anyway: Those 'u' things appeared when ghostscript started shipping PFB files that could be used to fake Adobe's base35 fonts reasonably well. The 'u' metrics (with 'adobe-ish' family names) are intended for use with those non-adobe PFB files (because these are, of course, not 100% identical to the adobe versions). Either way, The problem is, it seems, that context currently assumes that the latex psnfss is present in the installation, and it might very well not be. Greetings, Taco
